Alex

I was born and raised in Te-Whanganui-a-Tara and live her now with my wife and our cat Scrungle. I identify as queer and use she/her pronouns. Before discovering my passion for social work and therapy, I worked in the hospitality industry.

My approach to this work is deeply rooted in the belief that mental health is closely linked to social justice. I approach my practice with the understanding that the challenges we face are deeply interconnected with our social environments, and that one part of the therapy process is addressing these broader systemic issues.

In my free time, I love cooking and enjoying board games with friends. I also enjoy moments spent with my niece and nephew. If you ever connect with me online for a session, you might get a surprise visit from Scrungle, who has a habit of making her presence known during calls.

I encourage you to reach out if you have any questions or would like to learn more about how we can work together.

My approach

When you come to therapy to explore something difficult or troubling, we will begin by introducing ourselves to establish a connection and create a comfortable, open space for our work together.

I take a narrative-informed approach to therapy, which means I believe that the cultural stories, labels, and societal practices we encounter shape how we perceive ourselves and interact with the world. In our sessions, we will examine these dominant narratives and work together to uncover new, alternative stories for you to experience and understand yourself.

I work with people aged 18 and older.
